We’d like to give a HUGE and heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who made The Princess Project’s 2015 Taffeta Tea a spectacular success! We knew this year’s Tea was off to a brilliant start when tickets sold out weeks before the event… and the Tea did not disappoint!
With the help of our sponsors, silent auction donors, vendors, guests and volunteers, we exceeded even our own expectations for this year’s event! We look forward to using the funds we raised to expand our organization and send thousands of teens to prom.
A special thank you to our amazing speakers, who brought the house down (and the wallets out!):
- Susan Kitchell: Susan is a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner who has been working with students in the San Francisco Unified School District for 18 years. Susan first heard about The Princess Project through a newspaper article more than ten years ago and began promoting the give-away events to students at her school site. When students had fears about travelling alone to sites or being out alone, she began to organize and schedule “Prom Dress Field Trips” so that the young women could go in chaperoned groups.
- Erin McFerrin: An East Bay Area native, Erin went to Tulane University in New Orleans, where she studied English Literature. A few years later, she went to Saint Mary’s College in Moraga, wher she earned her teaching credential. She now teaches English and Leadership at Black Diamond High School in Pittsburg, and assists her students in attending Princess Project dress giveaways.
- Ayesa Kearns: Ayesa is a junior at St. Joseph Notre Dame High School in Alameda. She is an outstanding student with an impressive 3.67 GPA. Ayesa is a leader at her school and is always looking for ways to help her community and fellow students. She is an active member of the Associated Student body, and is also a talented basketball player. Ayesa attended this year’s Princess Project dress giveaway where she found her perfect prom dress.
We’d also like to thank our many sponsors and donors listed below, who made this year’s event an afternoon to remember.
