Leadership Team

President:  Karen Martin-Spellerberg

Karen serves as the Corporate Board President of The Princess Project, a California nonprofit that promotes self-confidence and individual beauty by providing free prom dresses and accessories to high school teens in need. Since becoming President in 2023, Karen has led the organization with passion and vision, overseeing the San Diego Headquarters as well. Her journey began in 2016 as the head of the San Diego Chapter, where she built a strong community of volunteers and supporters. Deeply committed to fashion sustainability and youth empowerment, Karen finds joy in supporting teens during one of the most memorable times in their lives and is continually inspired by the volunteers who bring heart and dedication to The Princess Project’s mission.

Secretary:  Leilah Roche

Leilah has been working in the financial services industry for more than 20 years and brings to the Board her organizational skills. Having raised three daughters, The Princess Project is important to her because of it’s core mission to promote self-confidence in young adults at a time when they are finding their own special place in this world. She believes every teen deserves the opportunity to feel valued.

Treasurer:  Fran Pillersdorf

Fran Pillersdorf grew up in Brooklyn, NY, attended Pace University and studied marketing and management. She has worked in electronics, banking, sales, real estate and finance. She is currently working in Client Services for a boutique accounting firm in San Diego, and handles disputes with IRS & Franchise Tax Board, payroll and handles Customer Service issues.  A huge supporter of charities and volunteering, Fran has been involved with the Princess Project for 8 years, and her favorite thing about dress giveaways is seeing the excitement and transformation of teens when they look in the mirror for the first time in the dress of their dreams.

Legal:  Eileen Braunreiter

EileenEileen is a retired attorney who brings her broad experience in commercial contracting, compliance, privacy, corporate governance and nonprofit law to the Board. The Princess Project is important to her because it gives self-confidence and joy to the teens receiving the dresses. As a life-long sewer, she also values the fact that The Princess Project promotes sustainability through the donation of lightly used and new excess inventory dresses.

IT/Volunteer Chair:  Marcie Scott

Marcie is originally from Oregon and works in the volunteer, non-profit and event space. She graduated from Pepperdine University and received an MBA from the University of Virginia. When not volunteering, she enjoys traveling, hiking, reading and doing jigsaw puzzles. She loves the behind-the-scenes work of The Princess Project and appreciates that teens have the opportunity to feel valued and special when engaging with volunteers.

Ex-Officio:  Lisa Fettner

Lisa is a marketing strategist and thought leader who has been involved in the Princess Project since 2012. She became president of the San Francisco Chapter in 2015 and joined the Governing Board as president in 2019. She is passionate about giving back and making a “sequins and sparkles” impact in her community. Lisa’s prom dress was lavender velvet with a ruffle at the bottom and a corset top.
